Afternoon tea was introduced in England by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840. The Duchess would become hungry around four o’clock in the afternoon. The evening meal in her household was served fashionably late at eight o’clock, thus leaving a long period of time between lunch and dinner. She requested a light meal of scones, sandwiches and small cakes accompanied with tea to bridge the gap.
We are delighted to continue this delightful tradition of Afternoon Tea here at Stalls.
Available from Tuesday to Saturday between 12pm and 4pm, (pre-booking is required).
Our Afternoon tea includes a selection of sandwiches, savoury quiche, sausage roll, fruit scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream, an assortment of sweet treats and tea or coffee.
